The Zocchetto outdoor paving system is original, unique and innovative. It is an industrial invention for which we have already obtained both the Italian and European patents.
Zocchetto is the best solution for residential use: it features anaesthetic that creates continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, such as verandas and porticos, and is naturally harmonious with the vegetation of parks and gardens. It is easy to install and can be cleaned with water and soap. Zocchetto is also ideal for contract use: it enhances any outdoor area, such as terraces, gazebos, and temporary spaces for restaurants, hotels, and commercial venues. The installation is dry and allows the system to be easily disassembled and relocated.
Zocchetto is made up of three structural components: a polystyrene tile, pine wood or terracotta blocks measuring 9x9x5 cm, and stone granulate.
The installation is very simple and can be done either above ground or flush with the ground. The low thickness of the system (5.5 cm) allows Zocchetto to be used for outdoor platforms as well, without the need for substructures or access steps.
Zocchetto is equipped with connectors and joint-filling materials that ensure its stability in all conditions. The granulate is designed to firmly secure the wooden elements to the base tile.
HIPS plastic, high-impact resistant polystyrene. Pinewood from PEFC-certified forests. Frost-resistant handmade terracotta. Stone aggregate from Italian quarries. Each square meter requires 90 pieces. The system weighs between 28 and 61 kg/m² depending on the chosen combination of materials.
The shape of the supports and the joint filling materials ensure very high drainage of the system, even in very adverse weather conditions.
The structure and materials of Zocchetto make it suitable for residential parking areas, courtyards, and pedestrian urban spaces with access for service vehicles.
Thanks to the compact size of the modules and the design of the connectors, Zocchetto can accommodate ground irregularities, allowing for the paving of walkways on small hills or uneven surfaces.
The wood is treated and impregnated using Korasit KS2 Class 4: a process that makes it suitable for prolonged contact with the ground and fresh water. The terracotta elements are made from natural frost-resistant material, ICEA-certified for green building, suitable for outdoor use and resistant to freeze-thaw cycles. HIPS plastic ensures resistance to impact and breakage, even at low temperatures.
The dry installation method allows for the system to be easily disassembled and relocated. Zocchetto is therefore ideal for temporary structures as well.
Flush ground installation: prepare the excavation, lay a geotextile fabric, and add 6–20 cm of gravel bedding, depending on the type of soil (sandy, clay, rocky, etc.). Then proceed with the installation, leaving a perimeter of about 5 cm in aggregate to allow for system expansion. A containment edge is always required and should be evaluated according to the installation context.
Above-ground installation: after assessing the irregularities in the existing pavement (which can be compensated with rubber granulate if needed), proceed with the installation of the pavement containment edge, followed by the direct installation of the system.
Zocchetto is an outdoor paving system designed according to concrete sustainability principles. The tile is made from recycled plastic, the wood is PEFC-certified and sourced from European forests, reducing transport impact. Dry installation eliminates adhesives and chemicals, allowing each component to be separated, recovered and recycled at the end of its life. The terracotta elements, a natural material ICEA-certified for green building, complete the system by reinforcing its responsible approach and long-term durability.
